If you can imagine the gates of a five acre, peaceful retreat opening for you a tranquil “island” in a beautiful Victorian town where the rich possibilities only begin with a fine room and a gourmet breakfast, then you have started to develop an idea of all that awaits you at “The Grove.” Whether you are searching for a location for a special getaway, a restful break from the rush of I-95 traffic, or a refreshing interlude while conducting business in the region, The Grove will meet your expectations.

In 1895, W.J. Montgomery completed the Eastlake Victorian manor house in the oak grove to connect with his family and retreat from the legal, financial, and legislative worlds which demanded so much of his time. The Grove continues the tradition of offering a setting to rest the body, clear the mind, and rejuvenate the soul. Furniture and personal affects belonging to the Montgomery family remain throughout the house.

The city of Marion and Marion County are named for the famous Revolutionary War leader, General Frances Marion, who is more widely known as The Swamp Fox. The county contains many sites of his war activities. One room in The Grove is dedicated to his memory, and the owners will assist you in connecting with sites and materials about General Marion |
